devastating oods that aected hundreds of thousands
of people and caused tragic loss of life. The management
of Škoda Auto, together with the KOVO Trade Union
and the Škoda Auto Endowment Fund, therefore
decided to organise a one-o employee fundraiser
immediately after the events to raise funds for eective
assistance to the areas most aected by the oods.
All employees were able to participate in the fundraiser
via the Employee Givings app.
Thanks to the contribution of the employees, the KOVO
Trade Union and the nal doubling of the amount
by the companies, a total of ,, CZK was raised.
The funds will be used to rebuild educational
institutions and communities that support education
and leisure activities in the most aected localities

their use in practice in an attractive way.

into stations, including a tour of the
assembly line, a demonstration of
technologies including D printing or
virtual welding, a presentation of the
all-electric Škoda Enyaq and interactive

schools to help them choose a suitable

Designers in India
Leaving their oces, Škoda designers headed to India to get closer to the custom-
ers they design cars for. Armed with a deeper understanding of the country and its
people, they will be able to design cars that are even more attractive to customers,
and not just to customers in India. The Indian market is extremely important for
Škoda and Volkswagen Group as a whole. Škoda runs the group’s activities in In-
dia and has two production plants here. It has already developed three vehicles tai-
lored to Indian customers – the Kushaq SUV, the Slavia sedan and the new Kylaq.
Specialists in Mladá Boleslav are involved in developing vehicles for the Indian
market alongside their Indian colleagues. And this also applies to design. This
year’s trip by a large team of people from Škoda Design was intended to ll
them with inspiration for future projects. “All
of our insights and notes from the trip will
be useful to us. They are already showing
up in the rst sketches,” says Caroline Liehr,
designer from the Color & Trim department.

For Škoda Auto employees
Check out the article at Škoda Storyboard to see what
such testing looks like.
How long does it take a driver to put on his favourite music? Is
it better to control the air-conditioning using a button or
a touchscreen? Škoda tests all that and a lot more on
simulators, but also in real cars and with real people.
UX (User Experience) research analyses the behaviour of car
users. It seeks to understand their needs and preferences, which
are then factored into the development of cars and technical
solutions. The team of specialists from the User Testing
Department collects and evaluates data from various sources,
ranging from existing research to organised quantitative and
qualitative research with customers. UX research is not just about
nding out if and how a part or function suits people, whether
they understand its use and whether it is something they expect.
Specic measurements are taken – typically, how long it takes
a person to perform a particular task.
How is the user experience tuned?
