Action in the VW Group in the First Half of 2024
The Škoda Octavia Combi RS has won
the prestigious Golden Steering Wheel
award in the mid-size vehicle category.
Readers of the German magazine Auto Bild
and the weekly Bild am Sonntag initially
selected the RS version of Škoda’s best-
selling model as one of three nalists in this
category.
An expert jury then put these three nalists
through demanding test drives
at Germany’s Lausitzring race circuit. This
victory marks the ninth Golden Steering
Wheel title for the Škoda brand. The award
was accepted by CEO Klaus Zellmer.
In its internal statistics on employee disciplinary issues,
the Volkswagen Group recorded , warnings and
terminations in the rst half of across its companies
with approximately , employees worldwide. Of these,
warnings and terminations resulted from investigations into
serious legal violations identied through Volkswagen Group’s
Central Reporting System (the Whistleblower System).
By regularly publishing these statistics since , the Group
demonstrates that the company’s success is founded on integrity,
adherence to regulations, and fair treatment. This is the only way
to avert potential damage to the company, its employees, and
business partners.

Third Early Bird Breakfast With
Thomas Schäfer As Guest
Thomas Schäfer reviewed the current negotiation status with the union
representatives at Volkswagen. After outlining the possible scenarios, he
explained that the current situation is very dierent from any other in
the past – and therefore radical solutions are inevitable. Schäfer appreciated
Škoda’s extremely positive results and praised the attitude of Škodians
towards their work and projects. In his comments, however, he focused
more on the future than the past.
