Beautiful After a Fender Bender
A car's bodywork repair can be so perfect that it is indistinguishable to the lay eye
from the original factory paintwork and remains hidden even after several years.
Our look inside the paint shop reveals that the key to this precision is not only
the meticulous work of experienced professionals, but also the use of manufacturer-
approved procedures and materials. The repair begins with smoothing the sealer,
continues with the application of a ller to ensure the paint adheres evenly, and ends
with the application of a precisely mixed tint that is analyzed by a spectrometer.
An interesting aspect is the use of
a special paint on the bumpers of
modern cars to avoid aecting the
radars of assistance systems. Finally,
the transparent paint is applied in
a ventilated box to protect the paint
from external inuences and ensure
its long-lasting beauty.

Veteran Eyes:
Josef Beneš
Škoda Auto is celebrating years and on this occasion,
we have contacted Josef Beneš, who has worked at the car
manufacturer as a plumber since .
In the interview, Mr. Beneš recalls the biggest change in
his work, which was brought about by the switch to self-
supporting bodies. This change made it dicult for him
to repair cars. A signicant shift occurred after when
he joined the VW Group, which introduced new
technologies such as CO
welding and plasma cutting,
which improved the quality of repairs. In conclusion,
the former plumber shares a story from his time assembling
Š bodies on the line.
