As part of the Next Level Škoda Strategy, the company has
pledged not only to make its production sites carbon neutral,
but also to signicantly reduce CO emissions from its vehicle
eet. One way to achieve this is by using alternative fuels in
combustion-engine vehicles. And now, Škoda diesel vehicles
can be refuelled with one such fuel. Known as HVO – short for hydrotreated vegetable oil – this is a next-
generation synthetic biofuel. To avoid confusion, HVO is fundamentally dierent from the biodiesel you may
already be familiar with. One key dierence is that HVO is not made using purpose-grown crops.
