Škoda is investing  million in the expansion of battery production in Mladá Boleslav, becoming
the largest producer of BEV battery systems in the Volkswagen Group. Škoda’s main plant
is now the rst Volkswagen Group site in Europe to produce cell-to-pack battery systems for use in
high-volume electric vehicles. Škoda will produce more than , cell-to-pack battery systems
per day and up to , units per year for Škoda models and vehicles from other Group brands.
The construction of the new , m production hall took less than one year. The line, with
a production cycle of  seconds, features an automation rate of % and  robots, and also
serves as a competence centre. The opening ceremony of the new hall on Friday, February ,
was attended by Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček,
among others.
Plug-in hybrid powertrains continue
to grow in popularity in key European
markets. The new  kW plug-in hybrid
version further strengthens the Superb
Hatch oering, making it the most
powerful combustion-engine model
in Škoda’s current range. The new system
combines a . TSI/ kW petrol
engine with an  kW electric motor
and a . kWh traction battery. For
the Superb Hatch in the Sportline and
Laurin & Klement trim levels, only the new,
more powerful  kW plug-in hybrid
variant will be oered. All authorized
dealers on the Czech market are already
accepting orders. The Superb iV ( kW)
remains available for the Selection trim.
