    These processes are
    independent of each other.
    There is no connection
    between a decision in for
    a North American site and
    a decision for a European site,
    and there is no prioritization
    of North America over
    Europe. Ideal production
    footprint foresees synergetic
    clustering of BEV and battery
    cell production, especially
    taking into account the
    number of car manufacturing
    plants located in Eastern
    Europe.
    The EU is preparing new
    measures in the Green Deal
    program. Volkswagen
    Group remains committed
    to build up cell factories for
    about  GWh in Europe
    by , but needs the right
    framework conditions, and
    wants to take the nal EU
    framework into account as
    a basis for a location decision
    in Europe.
    Whether these support
    packages under the Green
    Deal could oer Volkswagen
    better investment incentives
    in Europe and in the Czech
    Republic remains to be seen.
    „The Czech Republic is
    an excellent position among
    the candidate countries to
    get a gigafactory. But now
    we have to wait and see what
    the so called new Green Deal
    will bring. The Group must
    evaluate it also in terms of
    subsidies and investment
    incentives,“
    said Škoda CEO
    Klaus Zellmer.
    So far, no decisions have been
    taken. The evaluation process
    is ongoing. Volkswagen
    AG will carefully revise its
    roadmap for various regions
    before making a multi-billion
    investment. There is no need
    to decide on short notice
    as decisions taken so far
    safeguard that cell supply is
    covered through .
    The negotiations with
    the Czech government
    are proceeding successfully
    and credibly. All involved
    parties continue to work
    on the details in trustful
    exchange.
    As already explained, the Volkswagen Group
    is exploring dierent locations in dierent
    world regions for setting up its gigafactories.

    the Spokesperson
    of the Year!
    The professional organisation
    PR Club, which organises
    the Speaker of the Year Awards,
    announced the winners in three
    categories at a gala event on
     March . The event took
    place at the NH Prague City
    hotel.
    The best spokesperson
    of  in the private sector was
    Pavel Jína, PR manager and
    spokesperson of the Czech
    Škoda Auto dealership.
    Škoda Auto‘s Corporate and
    Internal Communications team
    also won last year‘s Spokesper-
    son of the Year  award.

    „Klaus Drives“: 4×4 on Ice
    Chairman of the Board of Directors Klaus Zellmer got
    behind the wheel of two four-wheel-drive SUVs on icy
    trails in the Arctic Circle. He tested the Škoda Enyaq
    RS iV and Kodiaq RS in northern Sweden. Zellmer‘s
    companion and mentor in testing the qualities of the ×
    drive was rally champion Emil Lindholm.
    The Enyaq RS iV was driven briskly by the carmaker‘s
    boss, who enjoyed a low centre of gravity thanks to
    the oor-mounted batteries, thus improving the car‘s
    handling. The Kodiaq RS SUV oered almost playful
    driving characteristics thanks to the inter-axle clutch and
    modes for driving in snow and o paved roads.

    Visited Spain
    The rst market visit of the year took
    the Chairman of the Board of Directors,
    Klaus Zellmer, and the Board Member
    for Sales and Marketing, Martin Jahn,
    to Spain. This is a market where
    Škoda Auto has the potential to enter
    the Top . This year, ŠA is ghting for
    a % market share in this market and
    wants to reach the % mark within 
    years.

    the Prestigious Formula Student!
    Formula Student is a prestigious student
    competition for engineers worldwide.
    Participants must demonstrate both in-depth
    professional knowledge and the ability to deal
    with practical problems. Students are in charge
    of the entire process of car development from
    design, through construction, testing and
    driving. As part of its support for technical
    education, Škoda Auto has long been involved in
    international races of the Formula Student team
    in Most.
    This year‘s race will take place from  to 
    August . We are looking for enthusiastic
    colleagues with an interest in motorsport and
    new technologies to take part in the static events.
    These are Engeneering Design Report, Cost
    Report and Sustainability Analysis, Business
    Presentation.
    A Year of New Opportunities
    For more than  years, the SAP
    Group Competence Centre at
    Škoda Auto has been providing the
    VW Group with services in the area
    of the most widely used business
    process management information
    system. The team in Mladá Boleslav
    and Prague expanded last year with
     new employees. New projects
    await the team in , particularly
    in the area of logistics systems
    support.

    something for your health. Cardiovascular
    diseases are a major health problem in
    the Czech Republic. People with diabetes,
    obesity and high blood pressure are most at
    risk. Stress is also a negative factor. Long-
    term neglect of these health problems can
    result in serious cardiovascular disease.
    This year, SG Department – Health
    Services and Ergonomics has a new range
    of prevention programmes to help you
    prevent illness. In addition, you will receive
     points for participating in the preventive
    action in the Benety Škoda cafeteria
    account. As part of the prevention, you can
    have your BMI, blood pressure, body fat
    percentage, cholesterol and blood glucose
    levels measured.

    celebrates  years on the market.
    The genes of the popular „Oktavia“
    go back to the s, the world
    premiere of the Octavia Combi took
    place on  March  at the Geneva
    Motor Show. The Octavia has become
    Škoda‘s best-selling model, with more
    than . million units leaving production
    in four generations (, , ,

    The timeless elegance of the body of
    the rst generation Octavia Combi A
    was a hit with experts and customers
    alike. The modern shapes of the
    second-generation A perfectly
    complemented the „A four“, their
    purposeful coexistence lasted for six

    of the third-generation A Combi, the
    fourth-generation A with mild-hybrid
    e-TEC technology was introduced at

    Virtual Christmas Tree
    Helped the Little Residents
    of the Children‘s Home
    Employees from Škoda Auto, the IT
    department, and the public supported
    the Children‘s Home in Vrchlabí with
    an original project. As part of the Virtual
    Christmas Tree project, the IT department
    of the ŠA organised a collection which raised
    CZK , for computer equipment.
    A cheque for a total of CZK , was
    presented to the children‘s home.
    The IT colleagues intend to continue
    the successful project.
