    Smart Energy Zebra
    All tari employees of the automak-
    er have the opportunity to partici-
    pate in the Smart Energy Zebra
    incentive campaign until //.
    Improvement, with the support of
    the PSU, launched this campaign
    last year. The aim is to motivate
    employees to save energy
    (e.g. reducing consumption,
    avoiding waste, promoting waste
    heat recycling) through improve-
    ment suggestions.
    When submitting a proposal, specify
    specic things – i.e. what, where,
    how to improve. Do not submit
    proposals in general terms, e.g. for
    the whole SA contest.
    Join the campaign and help your
    employer manage energy eciently.
    Your eorts will be rewarded with
    an extraordinary  percent increase
    in rewards for quantiable ZEBRA
    proposals.
    A common innovation journey
    A year ago, Škoda Auto merged the InnoTeam and
    the SVP (Skoda Business Partnership) Team. The aim
    was to nd previously untapped synergies between
    these departments and improve the eciency of
    innovation management.
    The purpose of the cooperation is to inspire each other,
    promote jointly created projects and come up with ideas
    for optimizing processes. These actions have taken place
    in a number of departments of the car company, from
    Vehicle Production (PF) and Components (PK), Brand
    Management (PS), Vehicle Logistics (PL) to After Sales
    (VA) and will continue with other areas.
    The team selected projects from dierent sectors.
    These include VRUT‘s own IT solution for Technical
    Development (virtual reality of vehicle technical data),
    in Production and Logistics the Digital Twin (energy
    ow model), and in Purchasing Celonis‘ process
    mining analytical tool.
    In addition, the teams worked on process automation
    and new projects such as the deployment of
    the Fleet Congurator or a method for testing the
    breakage of textiles.

    Alone in the desert:
    a journey across
    the Sahara
    Interwar travellers in Africa, Asia and South
    America proved the reliability of Škoda cars
    on their journeys. Let us recall the journey of
    pioneer Jiří Hanuš, who crossed the dreaded
    Sahara in  in a Škoda .
    The then twenty-seven-year-old Jiří Hanuš
    set out on the  km long route from
    the Czech Republic to Dakar in Senegal all
    alone. In Mladá Boleslav, they hoped to sup-
    port both export and the prestige of the
    brand with this adventurous journey. At
    that time, the carmaker managed to face
    the global economic crisis with ecient belt
    production and the development of new
    models. The intensive work on the new car,
    the future Popular legend, paid o. Škoda
    Auto entered the  season with
    a successful mid-range model. But what
    about driving across the dreaded Sahara?
    The success of Jiří Hanuš strengthened the
    Škoda brand both at home and in North Af-
    rica, where Mladá Boleslav cars had already
    been exported before the First World War.

    Colleagues in Puna are ready for the future
    At the beginning of February, workshops were held at the ŠAVWIPL plant in
    Pune, India, focused on the digitalisation of our production facilities in India.
    Important points were the further development of the Central Control Room
    (CCR) and its transformation into a Digital Control Room (DCR) with a higher
    degree of process digitalization. These processes were linked to the same
    activities for the Czech manufacturing plants, while addressing strategies with
    the subsequent introduction of data analytics in production and logistics.
    The above mentioned topics are part of the F - Future Factory eld within
    the FORCE PROGRAM of the Production and Logistics area of Škoda auto.
    Superb for professional
    female cyclists
    Women‘s World Cycling in cooperation with Canyon//
    SRAM uses a Škoda Superb Combi iV team car.
    They cannot praise its services enough. The original
    paintwork and the necessary equipment make the
    car unique. Up to eight bikes and a full set of spare
    wheels can be stacked on the roof of the car on special
    racks. The crew in the car accompanies the cyclists
    throughout the race. The car is driven by Sports Director
     (SD), the co-driver is Sports Director  (SD), who
    uses the car as a mobile coaching bench.
    He keeps track of race information and the current
    weather forecast. With the help of the VeloViewer
    app, the sports director receives information about the
    course, and thanks to a satellite dish on the roof he can
    watch the live TV broadcast of the race. The car is also
    comfortable for the mechanic, who has plenty of room
    in the back. The female cyclists have comfortable care
    throughout the race with the Škoda Superb Combi iV.
    Swedish Rally:

    Oliver Solberg (SWE) and co-driver Elliott
    Edmondson (GB) took the rst victory for the new
    car from Mladá Boleslav in the WRC category at
    the Swedish rally. Finns Sami Pajari/Eni Mälkönen
    nished third in their category. Reigning WRC World
    Champions Emil Lindholm/Reeta Hämäläinen had
    to settle for seventh place, slowed by a crash into the
    snow barriers lining the stages.
    Oliver Solberg won by . seconds ahead of Ole
    Christian Veiby/Torstein Eriksen. The winning duo
    set the fastest times in their category on eight of
    the  stages of the entire competition.
    After freezing Sweden, racers will face dust, heat and
    altitudes of over  metres.
    The next event on the calendar is the Mexican Rally,
    which takes place – March .

    The Krakonoš Gardens grant
    appeal focuses on nature
    conservation and biodiversity
    support. One of the objectives
    of this call is to support
    projects that help retain
    water in the landscape and
    the implementation of new
    biodiversity features – ower
    beds, ponds and beehives.
    The Škoda Auto Foundation
    opened this call at the turn of
    the year and applicants from
    the Mladá Boleslav, Rychnov,
    Vrchnov and Jilemnice regions
    can apply for contributions until
     February . The amount
    of the contribution for projects
    aimed at ecosystem restoration
    can be up to CZK  .
    The Krkonoše National Park
    Administration will also
    participate in the evaluation of
    the projects.

    Tracation app will
    increase safety
    at level crossings
    Recently, the number of accidents at
    level crossings has been increasing.
    Most of them are caused by drivers‘
    inattention and disregard for warning
    lights. Especially at level crossings
    without trac lights, many people test
    their limits. Škoda Auto has developed
    the Tracation app, which alerts
    drivers to approaching trains – this should
    improve safety at level crossings.
    The app can be installed directly on
    the infotainment system of most Škoda
    models.
    The software assesses the potential
    risk of an accident based on data
    on the position of moving trains, for
    example. Škoda Auto is cooperating
    with Leo Express in the test phase of
    development. Michal Vondra from
    EEH will explain how the application
    works and what else it can do.
