Three Decades On:
Remembering the Škoda
Favorit‘s 4 Consecutive
Monte Carlo Rally Vicotires
In the late s, Škoda Auto underwent
a signicant transformation. This change was
embodied in the Škoda Favorit, marking
a revolutionary shift from the long-standing
era of rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive models
to a modern car with a spacious body, front-
mounted engine, and front-wheel drive.
The gradual technical evolution of this car,
combined with the enthusiasm and masterful
performances of drivers and navigators led to
a highly successful campaign in . It began
in January with the Sibera/Gross team, who
clinched their fourth consecutive victory at
the traditional season opener, the Monte Carlo
Rally. However, the noteworthy achievements
spanned the entire season, culminating in
a landmark trophy for Škoda Motorsport
in the FIA Championship.
