Mirosalv Macoun Describes Corporate Education

1971–2019 He has known the carmaker since he was 15. In addition to his work at the company, he taught at a vocational school until 2019, where his courses ranged from technical drawing and mechanics to information technology. He also retrained carmaker employees.

He first came to AZNP in 1971 to work as a temporary worker on the assembly of the Škoda 100 model. During most school holidays, he worked as a temporary worker in mechanical operations – M2 mechanics, M1 assembly, welding and painting. After his conscription service, he joined M2 in 1982, working in technical inspection. He then moved to the Škoda Auto Vocational School (SOUs) where he worked until 2019, focusing on professional technologies, mechanical engineering, information technology and related fields. “The carmaker has always been closely linked to the school. After the merger with the VW Group and production modernisation, the range of subjects changed to better meet the company’s needs,” recalls Miroslav Macoun. “Graduates usually stayed at their workplaces after completing their apprenticeship, so they knew the environment well, and the transition to working life was easier for them. The company’s interest in graduates was logical. In addition to basic professional knowledge and skills, graduates had ingrained basic work habits. Today, the company offers every graduate a job, which was not the case in the past,” adds Miroslav.
