Octavia Number One Million has a Czech Owner

Just before Christmas, the ceremonial handover of the one millionth Škoda Octavia fourth generation took place. Martin Čepelík collected it from the showroom of Prague authorised dealer Auto Jarov, choosing the Octavia RS specification in Velvet Red metallic with RS Lounge interior. The car was handed over to the customer by dealer Jakub Krejčí together with Jiří Maláček, Head of Sales and Marketing for the Czech Republic. “The Octavia has been one of Škoda’s symbols for decades and its success is inseparably linked with Czech customers. The fact that the milestone one millionth fourth‑generation Octavia was handed over right here in the Czech Republic clearly confirms how popular this model is in the home market and the trust our customers have shown us over the years,” said J. Maláček. Škoda Auto launched the modern Octavia model in 1996 and since then has produced 7.6 million units across four generations. Over 640,000 of them have gone to the Czech market.

    The World of Škoda Auto

    Digital waybills introduced

Thanks to the TransFollow platform, you no longer have to track down colleagues to get them to sign a paper waybill. This new feature allows you to create a document online, approve and sign it electronically, share it immediately and archive it securely. This saves time and reduces the number of errors. The key is to involve all parties, from the internal team to the carrier to the customer, and to harmonise the necessary processes. The rollout of digital consignment notes is supported by the Product Owner of the TransFollow application, Jitka Mazalová Dvorská from the PLT/3 – FBU and xKD Transport Planning team.

L&K Award for Quality Control Design

Škoda Auto recognised the best student projects and selected nine finalists from 40 entries. The Laurin & Klement Award, which aims to support technical education and career development for young people, was won by Adam Kleprlík from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He wrote his thesis on “Design of a System for Tempering Parts as Part of Dimensional Quality Control” in the GQ – Quality Management department and received a prize of CZK 80,000.

    Partnership for parts production

Manufacturers of pressed and welded components Promet Group Czech Republic and SKH, based in India, have established a joint venture. The goal is to start production in the Czech Republic of specific parts for the automotive industry, with the VW Group as a key partner. Components from Tawesco, which forms part of the Promet Group, are already being installed in Škoda cars in Europe, and components from SKH are installed in Pune, India. Miroslav Heršálek, Head of BM – Metal Purchasing, was behind the idea of the joint venture. Karsten Schnake, Škoda Auto Board Member for Procurement, also attended the ceremonial signing of the founding documents.

    Display suppliers present their operations

Digital displays have become an essential part of cars. To refine and improve the way these components are priced, colleagues from the BZW – Value Engineering and BC – Purchasing Connectivity/Electrics departments headed to China in late October and early November. In six cities, they visited suppliers of display modules and their subcontractors who provide metal frames, displays and cover glass. They inspected the production facilities and mapped the processes in detail. They also exchanged their knowledge of the Chinese market with colleagues from VW China.

The new publication Škoda – Propagace v zahraničí (Škoda – Promotion Abroad) traces how the Mladá Boleslav brand has evolved over the past eight decades through period leaflets, posters and other materials. It was launched by Martin Jahn, Board Member for Sales and Marketing, together with its author, Martin Kupec.

    ŠAVŠ employees spread holiday cheer

Before Christmas, employees of Škoda Auto University College, for whom this is already a traditional event, brought joy to residents of the Mladá Boleslav Retirement Home and children with disabilities from the Mladá Boleslav Elementary School with gifts. The gifts were presented by the university administrator Martina Zimmermann together with Renata Holubová from the Marketing Communications department and Martin Svoboda, owner of the university hockey team. The university has been cooperating with both institutions for a long time and also supported them last year during the Giving Tuesday event.

Breakfast discussion with managers in Prague

The traditional Early Bird Breakfast event was held at a new venue this time, and instead of the Škoda Museum in Mladá Boleslav, it took place at AFI City in Prague on 5 December. At the informal meeting, Klaus Zellmer, Škoda Auto CEO; Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Member of the VW Group Board responsible for Brand Group Core; and Jaroslav Povšík, Chairman of the KOVO Trade Union, discussed key topics with managers. Topics included the possible impacts of lifting the ban on combustion engines after 2035, as well as other opportunities arising from cooperation within the Brand Group Core.

Free parking in Prague for electric cars has ended. From 1 January, parking in zones will be charged for all vehicles.

Discount is available for short‑term and long‑term parking of zero‑emission vehicles. Vehicles must be registered.

You can find the registration procedure and parking billing for business trips at Škoda Space.

New ProDigi HUB corner will boost digital and AI skills

A new space for discovering digital technologies called ProDigi HUB is opening in hall M18 in January. Any interested employee will be able to try out tools that are already changing production and the way we work today – from artificial intelligence and 3D printing to vision systems. At the same time, it will be a space for collaboration, creating new ideas and innovations that will be put into practice. A wide range of software will be available for AI, automation, data analysis and CAD/3D tools for faster prototyping and testing. The corner is located in the M18 paint shop and employees can visit it even without any previous experience with the technologies. Trained staff will be on hand to explain everything. Advanced enthusiasts will also find a place here to develop their skills and innovative ideas.

New look for Škoda Mobil stands

You can now find your employee newspaper in newly branded stands. Last year, we reduced the number of copies of Škoda Mobil in order to save paper and other costs. We have therefore adjusted the number of stands and their locations so that the newspaper can effectively reach everyone who wants to read it in paper form. You can find an overview of distribution points on Škoda Space. The complete content of Škoda Mobil and other interesting information is also available in electronic form.

We have added new elements in new shades to the design based on the basic company colours to give the newspaper pages a more dynamic and fresher look.

When selecting articles, we focus on you, the employees. Our aim is to ensure you find content that is relevant and useful. In short, we want you to be able to rely on it to help you keep up with everything that is happening at the car manufacturer. That is why we will also be introducing our colleagues abroad in the section “At a New Address” in each issue, so you can learn how they’re doing. We will focus on connecting Škoda families with the company in the “Generation Š” section and tell you more about the Human Touch programme.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to your feedback, which helps us to continuously improve the employee newspaper.

  • A very strong year followed by a crucial one

Behind every success lies a story, and Škoda’s story in 2025 was shaped not only by the celebration of its 130th anniversary but above all by innovation, courage and a well-considered strategy. The carmaker recorded one of its most successful years of the past decade. Chronicle 2025 presents a selection of milestones, along with an overview of new models, infrastructure expansion and anniversaries.

Strong Year Paves the Way for a Pivotal One

Every success has a story, and Škoda’s story in 2025 was shaped not only by the 130th anniversary celebrations but above all by innovation, courage and a well-developed strategy. Thanks to these features, the carmaker is closing one of the most successful years of the past decade. While customers are just discovering the results of last year’s work, Škoda Auto is already presenting its vision for 2026.

    Kodiaq: second best-selling model

The new generation of this SUV was so popular that it became Škoda’s second best-selling model last year. As a result, the carmaker has expanded production in Kvasiny with an additional line.

Since its introduction in 2016, the Kodiaq has been of enormous importance to the Škoda brand, playing a key role in its growth and consistently impressing customers.

In April 2025, the Škoda Space employee portal celebrated its fifth anniversary.

    7

Last year, the Škoda Auto Foundation celebrated seven years of existence.

    10

Students at the Secondary Vocational School of Engineering created the 10th Škoda L&K 130 student car.

    25

Škoda Auto University marked its 25th anniversary celebrations with a visual transformation, heading into 2026.

    30

ŠKO-ENERGO celebrated 30 years since its founding.

    Launch of the Elroq model

In January 2025, another fully electric model rolled off the production line in Mladá Boleslav, featuring both a new Modern Solid design and numerous technological innovations. Preparations for the start of production were unique in that the Elroq pilot development project worked exclusively with virtual prototypes.

In November, Škoda Auto produced its 100,000th Elroq, and in April and October, the model was the most sought-after electric car in Europe.

Respectline as a celebration of diversity

As part of European Diversity Month, Škoda Auto unveiled a special concept car called the Elroq Respectline. The new car was first shown to the public in May at the Best Cars awards ceremony in Hamburg, and the very next day, it was part of the Music Festival in Mladá Boleslav. It was also present at Prague Pride and the Tour de France cycling race.

The first Respectline was created in 2023 based on the Enyaq Coupé.

    The fastest Fabia

The fastest Fabia 130 ever, with an engine fine-tuned by Škoda’s development team in Česana, is now available at authorised Czech dealers. The car celebrates 130 years of the carmaker and references its rich history in motorsport.

The first Fabia 130 cars will be delivered to customers in early 2026.

Enyaq series in Modern Solid design

At the start of 2025, Škoda Auto staged a major premiere. One of the best-selling electric model ranges in Europe, namely the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé, received a new look. Besides the use of the Modern Solid design language, they feature new sustainable materials, more advanced digital functions and assistance systems. Shortly after their presentation at the Ice Hockey World Championship in May, the Enyaq RS and Enyaq Coupé RS versions also went on sale in the Czech market. Škoda then unveiled the Enyaq RS Race concept.

The Enyaq model repeated its success from 2021 and retained its Euro NCAP rating last year.

    Production launch

Škoda Auto began assembling the new fully electric Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé models at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav in March. In addition, they are produced on the same line as the Elroq and Octavia models.

Manufacturing several models on the same line allows the carmaker to respond more flexibly to changing market demands.

    100

The merger of Laurin & Klement and the Pilsen-based industrial group Škoda took place 100 years ago.

    130

The carmaker celebrated its 130th anniversary throughout the year. This year marks 125 years of motorsport.

    100,000

The HR Advisory Centre has handled this many employee requests since its launch two years ago.

    500,000

By the beginning of July, the plants in India had already produced half a million Škoda cars.

    1,000,000

At the beginning of December, after a five-year hiatus, the carmaker surpassed an important milestone and produced its millionth car in the same year.

    A future called Vision O

In early September, the carmaker unveiled the Vision O, a spacious electric station wagon concept, in Munich. It takes the Modern Solid design language to the next level, focusing even more on the use of sustainable materials. In October and November, employees were able to view the car as part of a roadshow.

This year, the company also plans to start production of the Škoda Epiq urban electric SUV, which it presented as a show car in Munich.

    Significant strategic step

Last year, the carmaker significantly expanded the area of its main production plant. At the end of April, it opened a new logistics centre and the M8 hall, which were built east of the D10 motorway and are linked to the plant via the Laurin & Klement Bridge. Participants in last year’s Škoda Classic Tour were the first to drive across it.

    Quality under one roof

The new Multifunctional Quality Centre was established on the premises of the main production plant at the end of May. This facility brings together employees from the GQD, GQG and GQF departments in one place. They moved here from seven previous locations.

This centre strengthens testing capacities, digital transformation and environmental goals in the area of quality.

New paint shop already under construction

On 24 June, the management of the carmaker and the KOVO Trade Union laid the foundation stone for a new paint shop, which is being built at the main production plant near the press shop. The plant will be highly automated and will serve both combustion engine and electric vehicles.

The modern paint shop will start operating in 2029 and will have a capacity of 1,600 painted car bodies per day.

    New exhibition at Škoda Museum

The V4 hall, which used to be used for training vocational school students, was transformed into an exhibition space within a few months. The Škoda Museum exhibits 23 unique items manufactured in this hall at the time of its creation.

The Škoda Museum intends to gradually change the cars exhibited in garage style.

    UX team united

Designers, engineers and programmers involved in the user experience and interface of Škoda cars have been working as one team since October. UX Product House has found its home in the Technology Centre building in Česana.

UX Product House brings a customer perspective to the development of the Škoda user environment, with an emphasis on simplicity and usability.

    Modern and solid Botas sneakers

On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of its founding, the carmaker joined forces with the traditional Czech brand, Botas. A limited edition of 130 pairs of Modern Solid sneakers debuted at Milan Design Week.

First Time at Milan Design Week

The Škoda brand participated in Milan Design Week for the first time, presenting a new sports version of the Elroq RS electric SUV. In addition, it teamed up with Italian designer Marcantonio to prepare a unique exhibition in the form of an experiential trail with giant sculptures.

At the end of 2025, the Škoda brand won third place for its installation at Milan Design Week.

Škoda and ice hockey belong together

The carmaker has left an indelible mark on the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. The Enyaq RS model made its debut on the ice rink, and the organisers were loaned 45 electric cars, most of which were Enyaq and Elroq models.

This coming May, the Ice Hockey World Championship will take place in Switzerland.

    Accompanying a thrilling show

Škoda was brilliantly represented at the 112th Tour de France. Modified Superb iV and new Enyaq models took turns as the red car for the race director. The peloton was accompanied by the new Elroq Respectline and the L&K 130 student car. A special logo also found its place on the glass trophies for the winners.

The number of awards won by the carmaker in the area of employee care. Among the most prestigious were Pluxee Employer of the Year and Most Attractive Employer in the Czech Republic.

Local assembly of Škoda cars in Vietnam

The carmaker reached another milestone in its internationalisation on 26 March when it opened a plant for the assembly of Kushaq and Slavia cars together with its local partner and investor, Thanh Cong Group. The plant in Quang Ninh includes final assembly, a welding shop and a paint shop and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

The carmaker began selling Kushaq cars in Vietnam last June and Slavia cars in September.

Engines for conventional and hybrid drives

The launch of production of the 1.5 TSI evo2 engine in July marked a significant milestone, making Škoda Auto a key centre for the production of advanced powertrains within the entire VW Group.

The engines will be used in the Fabia, Scala, Kamiq, Karoq, Octavia and Kodiaq models.

    Cars for the Health Clowns

Last year, children once again designed cars for the Health Clowns organisation. Its fleet, which includes the Enyaq and Superb models from the previous three years, was supplemented by the electrified Kodiaq.

The carmaker has supported Health Clowns for 15 years. Which painted car will be added to its fleet this year?

    Employee Giving

Last year, employees added over CZK 5 million to Employee Giving. Škoda Auto increased this amount to a grand total of over CZK 10 million. This sum was used to support non-profit organisations chosen by the employees in the fourth round of contributions.

Do not hesitate to get involved because there is never enough help. The Employee Giving project will run until 2028.

    Volunteering leads the way

Volunteering has a firm place at Škoda Auto, and 2025 was an exceptionally busy year. In the spring, a new volunteer platform, dobrovolnici.skoda-auto.cz, was launched, offering employees dozens of opportunities throughout the year to help in the regions where the carmaker operates.

  • Motorsport adds flavour and supports the business

In 2026, the carmaker will celebrate 125 years of participation in motorsport competitions. In an interview, Johannes Neft, Board Member for Technical Development, and Michal Hrabánek, Head of EM – Škoda Motorsport, explain how motorsport fits into Škoda Auto’s strategy. They also look back on its successful history and outline the current state of motorsport, with a focus on customer teams.

Motorsport Adds Flavour and Supports the Business

This year, the carmaker will celebrate 125 years of participation in motorsport competitions. The Board Member for Technical Development and the Head of EM – Škoda Motorsport explain how motorsport fits into Škoda Auto’s strategy and look back on its successful history.

What celebrations are you planning for the 125th anniversary of Škoda’s participation in motorsport?

Michal Hrabánek: Among others, we’ll produce many commemorative items and special editions. Of course, we’re also planning various events to celebrate motorsport history together.

Which achievements over the past 125 years do you consider the most significant?

    M. Hrabánek: I remember many of those achievements myself. (laughs) I recall quite well how we celebrated the 100th anniversary. Still, it’s hard to pick specific milestones. Each achievement was unique in its time, making them difficult to compare. For example, I clearly remember the double victory at the 1977 Monte Carlo Rally. I was 7 years old, and it made a huge impression on me. At the time, I never imagined I’d be part of it. And in 2017, we even won the Monte Carlo Rally with a car in the same colours as back then.

Johannes Neft: For me as well, the successes in Monte Carlo are crucial. And the fact that we successfully launched the rally programme with the Fabia model. It’s also important that Czech drivers have always been able to win with Škoda cars. That was true in the past, and it’s still true today. Our programme also has the advantage that importers and dealers in the markets where we operate can also have their own local heroes.

We must acknowledge the tremendous support for motorsport from everyone at Škoda. It’s extremely valuable for our programme.

Škoda cars are currently excelling in rallying in particular. The Fabia RS Rally2 competition car is one of the most successful cars in this category. What’s the secret to its success?

    J. Neft: We have extensive experience and knowledge in motorsport – both technical and commercial. Škoda Motorsport has highly motivated and enthusiastic people who’ve achieved a great deal alongside their passion. A key advantage is close collaboration with other technical development departments and the use of their expertise. This creates a beneficial mix that allows us to develop a world-class competition car, which we’re constantly improving. It’s also extremely important that we do not focus on ourselves. The Fabia RS Rally2 is a car for our customers, and we support them intensively. This is a core part of our philosophy.

What is the demand for these cars? You’ve delivered over 700 cars in 10 years. Is interest still high?

    M. Hrabánek: The market is growing from year to year. Our competitors are also growing, yet we sell more and more competition cars every year. Rally2 is a very successful category, both commercially and in terms of spectators perhaps the most successful. And we’re the leaders in this regard. We started with 50 specials sold per year, and in 2025 that number reached 93. This gives our cars the largest share of the Rally2 market.

Škoda Motorsport focuses on the customer programme. Do you miss having a factory team?

    M. Hrabánek: In motorsport, the general trend is towards customer sport, and Rally2 is also a purely customer category in terms of rules. Given the number of cars sold, it would be counterproductive for us to compete with our customers. One advantage of our approach is that we strive to ensure a level playing field for all customers. A factory team would disrupt that. The customer car approach is also more advantageous for us from a business perspective. The 700 cars sold give us greater visibility among fans than two or three factory cars. However, I can imagine that we could have a factory team in the future. It depends on how the World Rally Championship (WRC) rules develop after 2027. For us, there are future paths that could include Rally2based support. But that won’t happen in the next two or three years.

Johannes Neft receives valuable advice from drivers Jan Kopecký and Michal Hrabánek before driving the Fabia RS Rally2.

What could the new WRC27 rules mean for you?

    M. Hrabánek: We don’t know the full set of rules yet, but it seems clear that the new WRC specification cars and Rally2 cars will co-exist until at least 2030. Until then, we can continue to rely on our model and improve the car and our services. We want to continue offering maximum support to our customers, including direct engineer support at competitions, a bonus programme in the European Rally Championship (ERC) and excellent spare-parts availability. At the same time, we know the WRC27 rules may be interesting and could allow us to use the same engine and transmission and partly the same suspension components as in the current car. We’re monitoring the situation, and it will also depend on customer interest.

    Where is rallying headed?

    J. Neft: Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in motorsport in general, and in rallying in particular. We strongly support the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in this regard and also strive to communicate these issues more widely. We’re showing how we can work with sustainable fuels and lubricants, as well as natural materials, in car design. I think this approach will appeal to a lot of people. It also helps us develop materials for potential use in series production.

Is the Enyaq RS Race concept related to this?

    J. Neft: The Enyaq RS Race isn’t the first electric rally car we’ve developed. We already have experience with the Fabia RE-X1 Kreisel model, built in collaboration with Kreisel Electric and the Baumschlager Rallye & Racing team. However, the Enyaq RS Race is primarily a demonstration of what we can do on the current MEB platform. It serves as inspiration for our production cars, showing us how to make them more emotive. We don’t plan to race it yet, as there isn’t a suitable competition category for it.

What aspects of this concept could appear in production cars?

    J. Neft: The use of biocomposite parts is very interesting, and we’re already applying them to a lesser extent in the Fabia RS Rally2 competition model. And we’re considering using them in production cars. We’ve gained some very interesting insights from the development of the Enyaq RS Race concept in the field of aerodynamics. We’re trying to use them in the development of production cars.

The VW Group brands are very active in motorsport. Do you collaborate with them in this area?

    M. Hrabánek: Each brand participates in a slightly different discipline, so we don’t directly share technical knowledge. However, we do collaborate; for example, we work together to develop a communication strategy with the FIA, consult on rules and help each other with car homologation procedures. We also support each other in finding suppliers of special parts.

Škoda has helped to nurture a number of great drivers. How do you develop young talent?

    J. Neft: Many drivers have come through our programme and achieved success with Škoda cars or later in higher categories. We’re delighted that drivers who start their careers with us go on to succeed elsewhere. That’s why we continue to support talented drivers and believe in their potential. Many promising drivers compete in Škoda cars. If I had to mention someone specific, I would definitely recommend following the career of Robert Virves, for example.

    M. Hrabánek: Fans, spectators and competitors appreciate our traditional support for young drivers. We are known for this and it makes us more approachable. It reflects a human approach. One former Škoda driver described it as a “rally university”.

    Another great season

Last year, Škoda competition cars won rally competitions around the world. They helped secure the European championship title and the WRC2 Challenger victory. You can find an overview of our successes on here.

    5. Výhra v Soutěži

    Výhrou je následující cena:

    3x balíčky reklamních předmětů Škoda.

    6. Kontaktování Výherce a podmínky čerpání výhry

    7. Pravidla ochrany osobních údajů (v souladu s GDPR 2016/679)

Vyplněním kvízu a vyluštěním osmisměrky a zasláním odpovědí na výše uvedenou e-mailovou adresu Soutěžící vědomě a dobrovolně souhlasí s Pravidly soutěže (viz tento dokument), což znamená:

    – zařazení do soutěže a příslušné evidence Soutěžících;

    – zasílání informačních e-mailů týkajících se této Soutěže;

    – případné zveřejnění jeho osobních údajů v rozsahu jméno a příjmení na výherní listině.

Požádá-li Soutěžící o informaci o zpracování svých osobních údajů, je mu správce a případně i zpracovatel povinen tuto informaci bez zbytečného odkladu předat.

Pořadatel si vyhrazuje právo i bez uvedení důvodů Dobu soutěže zkrátit, Soutěž přerušit nebo zrušit či změnit její Pravidla, a to i bez udělení výhry a bez poskytnutí náhrad. Pořadatel si rovněž vyhrazuje právo nahradit ohlášenou výhru předmětem podobného typu a odpovídající hodnoty a upravit podmínky předání výhry v případě, že výhra nebude poskytnuta způsobem umožňujícím předání výhry vítězům v souladu s těmito Pravidly.
