Skoda Supplements
Škoda Mobil, the employee newspaper of the Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker, includes special supplements that focus on especially important topics from Škoda's perspective. Supplements can be a part of the newspaper, in the same format as the newspaper, inserted, for example, in the form of a flyer, or they can be stand-alone unique magazines in a specific format, such as supplements dedicated to new models, the brand's historical anniversaries, or other important information from the company's environment.

These activitiesincluded aquiz and poster-making competition held bySAVWIPL at both plants, which tested the employees’environmental knowledge. As part of the celebrations,there were also discussions about environmentalissues, enabling active participation by all employees.Excursions and sub-activitiesThe Pune plant is dedicated to minimising itsenvironmental footprint and fostering sustainabilityacross all aspects of its production activities. To thisend, it has established an Eco Park featuring abutterflyand bee garden with bee hives, bird houses andabeetle bank. The celebration of World EnvironmentDay included avisit to this park. In addition, employeesengaged in tree planting around the plant to aid inland restoration and combat climate change, and theyparticipated in desilting apond near the town of Shirur.In addition, they could attend training sessions withexternal experts invited by company management,who discussed ecological ideas related to air andwater protection. Shafqat Kazmi, responsible forenergy and water sustainability at SAVWIPL, preparedalecture at the ITI Girls’ Institute in Pune’sAundhdistrict aboutthe impact of human activity on theenvironment andthe importance of sustainablepractices in daily life.Similar initiatives were carried out at the ChhatrapatiSambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) plant. Here, thecommitment to reducing the ecological footprint andpromoting sustainability extends through all operations.The management distributed atotal of 1,089 saplingsto employees so that everyone had the opportunity toplant one around the plant.Commitment to Protecting the PlanetCelebration of World Environment Day in IndiaAppealingprogramme forstudentsHow does abottle made in Germanyend up in the remote wilderness of theArctic Circle? Students and teachersfrom Dr. Josef Pekař SecondarySchool in Mladá Boleslav explored thisand other questions at an educationalevent held at the Škoda Museum aspart of the GreenFuture strategy. Theevent, held in the L&Kscreening roomfor 300 participants, was moderatedby Jakub Šanda, who overseessustainability strategy – methodologyin the GSC – Corporate strategy®ional strategy department. Thesession began with an interactive quizabout the plastics and microplasticsaround us. From its results, it wasevident that students are well awareof microplastics issues and are activelytrying to eliminate their use of single-use plastic products to minimiseplastic waste.This was followed by ascreeningof the documentary North Streamby Steen Krones, which won theAudience Award at the One WorldFestival. The film tracks plastic wastefrom continental Europe to theclis of the Norwegian archipelagoof Lofoten. What was originallyasolo venture has evolved intoacollaborative scientific project withengineers, oceanographers and thepublic. Breathtaking shots of thedramatic Norwegian countryside andscenes showing the team’sexcitementat tracking the special buoys areinterspersed with shocking images ofplastic waste invading pristine naturallandscapes. Through this programme,students learned how plastics cantravel vast distances and contaminatethe entire planet.GreenFuture1,089This number represents the treesaplings distributed to employeesin India to foster asense ofresponsibility and individualcontribution to agreen andsustainable future.201At the Pune plant, 36 participantsfrom seven departments engagedin amotivational competition.Of the 201 quiz participants,39 answered all the questionscorrectly.60More than 60 employees visitedthe Eco Park near the Pune plant tocelebrate World Environment Day.In India, all managers and employeerepresentatives took an oath to promoteagreen and sustainable future.
