Skoda Supplements
Škoda Mobil, the employee newspaper of the Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker, includes special supplements that focus on especially important topics from Škoda's perspective. Supplements can be a part of the newspaper, in the same format as the newspaper, inserted, for example, in the form of a flyer, or they can be stand-alone unique magazines in a specific format, such as supplements dedicated to new models, the brand's historical anniversaries, or other important information from the company's environment.

Green FutureThis year’sClean Up the CzechRepublic event (Ukliďme Česko)garnered significant interest,with nearly 250 volunteersparticipating, including employeesand their families. Maren Gräf,Board Member for People &Culture, stated, “We were verypleased that so many of ourcolleagues joined this year’sCleanUp the Czech Republic campaign.They have selflessly and voluntarilydecided to do their part forenvironmental protection, therebyfurther strengthening sustainabilityin the regions where our plants arelocated.” The individual clean-upswere carried out in collaborationwith local environmentalassociations, which identified themost suitable sites.Employees from MladáBoleslav took part in aclean-up eort in the Kokořínsko–Mácha Region ProtectedLandscape Area. In addition tocollecting litter, they had theopportunity to learn interestingfacts about this precious areaand received apresentation byenvironmentalists on how tocontribute to environmentalprotection.Volunteers from theKvasiny plant, includingtrainees, collaborated with theAdministration of the OrlickéMountains Protected LandscapeArea and the Association of NatureEnvironmentalists of Prorubka.They went to the Luisa Valley,where they not only collected litterbut also installed 12 birdhousesto help various bird species nest,as natural cavities in the wild aredecreasing, partly due to theprolonged bark beetle calamity.Colleagues from Vrchlabí wentto help nature in highly stressedareas around Špindlerův Mlýn.This location was chosen withthe Krkonoše National Parkmanagement, and the clean-upwas scheduled for alater date dueto the colder spring weather.Škoda Auto has been apartnerof the Let’sClean Up the CzechRepublic challenge since 2015, andits employees have participated inlitter collection in the countrysideduring both the spring and autumnseasons. These eorts are carriedout before and after the touristseason. If you missed the springclean-up, you can still get involvedon 16 September, which is WorldClean-Up Day.Collaboration with environmentalistsEmployees once again supported theUkliďme Česko challengeBiodiversityinIndiaOn the occasion of the InternationalDay for Biodiversity, Škoda Autopresented various measures andprojects aimed at promotingenvironmental protection in the vicinityof its production sites around theworld. The carmaker’semployees playan active role in the implementationof these initiatives. As asignatory tothe India Business and BiodiversityInitiative, Škoda Auto Volkswagen IndiaPvt. Ltd. is committed to undertakingnumerous projects in this area.For example, at thecarmaker’s500-hectare site in Pune,more than 340 species of plants, treesand animals co-exist. Aspecial gardenhas been created to provide ahavenfor butterflies and bees. In addition,the Aurangabad plant features the‘Oxygen Park’ and the ‘Green Centre’,which consist of 36,500 trees that notonly produce oxygen and bind carbondioxide but also provide nesting sitesfor native bird species and help topromote biodiversity. In the secondphase of the project, an additional50,000 trees will be planted.The Indian manufacturing plantsalso incorporate photovoltaic panelsto contribute to the renewable energysupply. The Pune plant has launchedone of the largest rooftop solar powerplants in the Indian automotive sector(26.6 million kWh per year).In the Alibag area of Maharashtra,the automotive industry is supportingthe reforestation of 100 hectares ofdegraded forest land by planting morethan 500,000 mangrove trees. Thetrees will contribute to the livelihoodsof the local population and contributeto blue carbon sequestration. Thisprocess involves the conversionof excess carbon dioxide intocarbonaceous substances throughphotosynthesis, which the plants candeposit into the soil through their roots.In addition, water conservation projectsare underway to collect millions of litresof rainwater in drought-aected areas.This initiative supports groundwaterreplenishment, which benefitsresidents, farmers and livestock.This year, the volunteerscollected 8.5 tonnes of litter,which is the equivalent of850car tyres.Colleagues from Vrchlabí setout to help nature in June inhighly stressed areas aroundŠpindlerův Mlýn.Volunteers from Kvasiny,in collaboration withenvironmentalists, visited theLuisa Valley in mid-May.Volunteers from Mladá Boleslav took part inaclean-up in the Kokořínsko–Mácha RegionProtected Landscape Area in April.The number of plant and animal speciesthat live on the car factory site in Pune.,The Green Centre and the OxygenPark in Aurangabad contain over,trees.,Half amillion mangrove trees will beplanted to reforest the degraded landinthe Alibag city area.8
