Skoda Supplements
Škoda Mobil, the employee newspaper of the Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker, includes special supplements that focus on especially important topics from Škoda's perspective. Supplements can be a part of the newspaper, in the same format as the newspaper, inserted, for example, in the form of a flyer, or they can be stand-alone unique magazines in a specific format, such as supplements dedicated to new models, the brand's historical anniversaries, or other important information from the company's environment.

Fresh, local andseasonal food benefits people’shealth and the planet as it containsmore vitamins, tastes better anddoes not need to be importedfrom halfway around the worldor frozen, thereby reducing thecarbon footprint by up to 30%.The Journey to the Plate projectincludes only Czech pork andbeef, as well as venison from theŠumava region. Aramark hasprocessed 2,194 kg of fallow deermeat or 1,362 kg of deer meat, forexample. Last year, Škoda Autorestaurants oered 6,518 kg ofcauliflower from South Moravia,3,881 kg of cabbage, 2,922 kg ofwhite cabbage, 4,071 pieces ofkohlrabi, 2,627 kg of pumpkin and1,288 kg of green peppers. TheJourney to the Plate project alsohas a web portal that containslots of interesting pieces ofinformation, as well as recipes andvideos.The campaign will introduce therelationship between food andecologyChoosing locally sourced seasonalingredients is one way of movingtowards a sustainable lifestyle.Sustainability has been a naturalpart of Aramark’s business foryears. Through the Journey tothe Plate project, guests can learnabout the origin of food, its healthbenefits and its impact on theenvironment. Just like last year,the ECO campaign will take placein Škoda Auto restaurants thisyear, along with a competition towin practical KeepCup mugs. Lastyear’s campaign focused on topicslike carbon footprint, disposablepackaging, meat consumption andwater. You can also get involved inthis year’s campaign by followingthe visuals in restaurants, theŠkoda Space portal or Aramark’sonline menu.Journey to the PlateSeasonal ingredients from farmersThe InvertedContainerLast September, Škoda Auto invited itsemployees to take part in a company-wide GreenWeek event. As part of thisevent, an educational project called “TheInverted Container” was conductedto analyse the waste managementpractices of Rychnov nad Kněžnouresidents. The experiment was createdin collaboration between the carmaker,the Environmental Department of theRychnov nad Kněžnou municipalityand EKO-KOM, and it involved theparticipation of students from the F.M.Pelcl Gymnasium and the SecondarySchool of Industry in Rychnov nadKněžnou.How it wentIn the housing estate in Rychnov nadKněžnou, 60 students and severalexperts emptied a container with800 litres of mixed waste and sortedit into the appropriate categories.Although mixed municipal waste wasthe most common type found, it wasdiscovered that the city could havesaved a significant amount of moneyif the residents of the housing estatehad sorted their waste properly. Thecity typically pays approximately CZK304 for the container whose wastewas analysed. However, if the containeronly had the waste it was supposedto, the cost would have been justCZK 129, resulting in savings of up to58% for its collection and disposal.
