Škoda Mobil, the employee newspaper of the Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker, includes special supplements that focus on especially important topics from Škoda's perspective. Supplements can be a part of the newspaper, in the same format as the newspaper, inserted, for example, in the form of a flyer, or they can be stand-alone unique magazines in a specific format, such as supplements dedicated to new models, the brand's historical anniversaries, or other important information from the company's environment.

In addition to being agreatplace for collecting berries, theyare asource of medicinal herbs,have anoise-dampening eectin populated areas and haveagenerally beneficial eect onmental relaxation. Therefore, thetheme of the 2023 celebrationswas acombination of Forestsand Health (see ThematicCelebrations).Green Future webinarThis year’sForest Daycelebrations were celebrated invarious ways. While some visitedthe nearest forest to clear theirheads, others picked up litteror participated in tree-plantingactivities. Numerous organisationsfocused on education. Škoda Autotook the opportunity to organisethe fifth webinar in the GreenFuture series. Aleš Erber, anindependent forestry consultantand manager of forest estates,spoke about the future of Czechforestry, wood and timber in theage of climate change. In additionto discussing the optimal form offorests in the Czech Republic, hetouched on the management oflinear structures (roads of classI-III, railways, power lines), whichmay contain risky greenery, wherewood has limits, where it can beused in industry, and why it shouldbecome astrategic raw materialin the Czech Republic. Arecordingof the webinar can be viewedin the Media Centre on ŠkodaSpace.Day of ForestsThe International Day of Forests, celebrated on 21 March, was dedicated to thisyear’stheme of Forests and Health. Škoda Auto did not lag behind as it organisedaGreen Future webinar.How we save withwaterWorld Water Day is held annuallyon 22March to commemorate theimportance of water and the needfor sustainable management of waterresources. This year‘sevent remindedthe public of the need to monitor theacceleration of changes that pursue thenecessary steps towards the continuedavailability and sustainability of waterresources and ecient drinking watersupply, sanitation and wastewatertreatment. It was in this spirit that one ofthe joint Škoda Auto and ŠKO-ENERGOprojects at the Mladá Boleslav plant wascarried out.Industrial water savingsThe main purpose of industrial waterat both the Mladá Boleslav plant andthe ŠKO-ENERGO heating plant is torefill cooling circuits that remove heatfrom individual stations, resulting insome inevitable water evaporation.Another important use is the productionof demi-water (i.e. water for technicalpurposes), which is stripped of dissolvedsubstances by using modern membranetechnology. The paint shops use two-thirds of this water, while the remainingthird is consumed by the powergenerators in the heating plant, withan annual consumption of 300,000 m3.However, during the production of demi-water, excess operating condensateposes aproblem as it is normally recycledand re-enters the circulation as asourceof demi-water.Heating plant cooling circuit insteadof sewageThe problem arises during hot monthswhen the primary source, the Jizera River,has ahigh temperature that prevents therecycling of excess operating condensate.Instead of being recycled, the condensateis cooled and discharged. ŠKO-ENERGOexperts have focused on addressing thisissue and have redirected the condensateflow during regular shutdowns.Since last August, it has been flowing toanewly designated location instead ofbeing discharged directly into the stormsewer after cooling without any furtherutilisation. Now, it is used in the coolingcircuit of the ŠKO-ENERGO heating plantduring summer months.This measure has saved up to 95,000m3of industrial water per year, whichrepresents approximately 5% of the totalindustrial water in the main productionplant. To put this into perspective, thecarmaker uses around 1.8 million m3ofindustrial water per year.ŠKO-ENERGO and the carmaker areworking together on awater recyclingproject at the Kvasiny plant.This measure rankedsecond in the Group-wideZero Impact Factorycompetition.
