Skoda Supplements
Škoda Mobil, the employee newspaper of the Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker, includes special supplements that focus on especially important topics from Škoda's perspective. Supplements can be a part of the newspaper, in the same format as the newspaper, inserted, for example, in the form of a flyer, or they can be stand-alone unique magazines in a specific format, such as supplements dedicated to new models, the brand's historical anniversaries, or other important information from the company's environment.

12Anew theme for thisyear’sgoals is biodiversity andthe Krakonoš Gardens project.Green FutureCircular Economy,Biodiversity and WaterSupplyWhat did the Green Future initiative achieve last year, and whatare the plans for this year?The PSU – Environmental and WorkProtection team has set targets until 2025with separate annual sub-tasks. Alargepart concerns the environmental impactof production. “The eciency of oursolutions depends on production – the lesswe produce, the less ecient they are,”explains Pavel Grmela, Project Coordinatorof CO₂ Neutral Production at PSU.Škoda Auto has long been aresponsibleconsumer of energy. The ongoing energycrisis has only intensified these eorts,and the energy-saving programmes incollaboration with all production andnon-production units are bearing fruit.However, the carmaker is not only seekingopportunities in existing technologies andbuildings but also pursuing strategies thatwill not aect consumption for severalyears to come.Rainwater harvestingPSU wants to focus on using capturedwater wherever possible within thecarmaker. “As an example, Iwould like tomention the large rainwater tank projectthat was created under the new centralkitchen. The captured rainfall is used forwatering, including the urban greenery inMladá Boleslav,” adds P. Grmela.Biodiversity and circular economyPSU is currently cooperating withthe Škoda Auto Foundation on theKrakonoš Gardens project. Town hallsand associations may apply for grants forprojects that will enhance the biodiversityof urban greenery, flower beds and ponds.“This is an extension of the Škoda Treesproject,” explains P. Grmela, adding thatthe new area will incorporate the circulareconomy. “Last year, we managed to carryout acircular scan in production. The goalwas to find new solutions that would raisewaste management to ahigher level ofmaterial recovery or even circularity,” saysP. Grmela.GreenWeek will also continue in amoreinteractive format. It will now providevideo reports from the individual plantsto showcase the measures supportingsustainable development. Škoda Auto willcontinue focusing on decarbonisation withthe aim of being CO₂ neutral by 2030.“Ihave to say that we’re on the right track.Our sustainability strategy should beapproved in the first half of the year. We’regoing to make our eorts more visibleby attending conferences and organisingvarious events. The topic of greenwashingis related to this – we don’t want to showourselves in abetter light than we reallyare,” concludes P. Grmela.Throughthe eyes ofthe ForceProgramWhat are the plans for theF8 – Green Future actionfield, which is part of theinternal Force Program? “Thethemes are the same as thoseacross the company: circulareconomy, water supply andbiodiversity. We would like toinvolve employees more, likelast year, when colleagues fromLogistics helped in cleaningand preparing ground in theKrkonoše Mountains to plantnew trees etc. We’d like tomake such events aregularprogramme that could be usedas aform of teambuilding,”says P. Grmela. The PSUteam is also embarking onanew Group methodology,goTOzero, which will measurethe carmaker’senvironmentalimpact. “This is abig innovationthat we’ll have to learn to workwith,” he adds.As part of the ForceProgram, the team is preparingastudy – and possibly apilotproject – of photovoltaicpanels in car parks. “We’vebeen inspired by the initiativein France to cover large carparks with solar panels,” saysP. Grmela. The developmentof the various technologiesthat the F8 action field willfollow is also moving forwardat arapid pace. For example,there will be research into theuse of noiseless wind turbineswithout blades and severalother recent energy trends.40Around that manykilogrammes of plasticin every car will berecycled by 2025.2030By this year, ŠkodaAuto aims to haveCO₂-neutral productionat its plants.
